Pattern Identification

When you are motivated to do something about your drinking lifestyle there's more involved than simply modifying your physical drinking habits. The FreedomFromAlcohol Method™ is designed to assist you in identifying the root causes of your abnormal drinking. My program helps you recognize the patterns that accompany your drinking and supports you at this critical stage of your treatment.
Patterns refer to issues in your life that recur and impact drinking, such as:
- Work issues
- Relationships
- Psychological issues
- The relevance of the patterns themselves and how they relate to drinking.
I address these patterns in more depth by finding out:
- How much you've been drinking---is it daily or weekend drinking?
- How serious you think your drinking is?
- What psychological issues are related to the episodes of your drinking?
- What may precipitate or trigger your drinking, your comfort or discomfort with drinking?
- More specific questions with medical implications, relating to episodes of blackouts or "grayouts".
Ultimately, when you understand these patterns and how they relate to your drinking behavior you will begin to regain control of your life. This particular aspect of the program is your opportunity to become motivated, to start healing and regain lost hope. It is vital to your long term recovery and well being.
Throughout the Pattern Identification Phase you and I will meet on a weekly basis for a six week period either in person or via the telephone (if this is a more suitable option for you).
After these follow up sessions, during which time you may have become more at ease with your drinking, we can turn our attention to other aspects of your recovery. Subsequent meetings will then be scheduled for every other week or on a monthly basis.
The focus of our meetings now will be to assess the effectiveness of your medication, work through the stressor patterns identified above and assist you in determining your desires and intentions for the amazing life that you want to have. These meetings are custom tailored to your specific needs and the progress that you will be making.
All three program elements are meant to seamlessly come together as they reflect your individual progress however emphasis may be placed on a particular element more than the others if need be. An example would be perhaps devoting more time to the use of the medications; or your psychological issues or "patterns"; or maybe more time spent clarifying your intentions and desires as they pertain to how you want things to be in your life.
Throughout the course of the program the more mindful or aware of how your life is affected by the three areas we address in the program –-- drinking, patterns and your desires --- the more successful you will be in accomplishing optimal results.
Remember, I have been at that place in my life where you are now and I will be with you through every step of this process.
Next, we will explore the Life Design phase.
