Documenting Your Progress

You can do it. I can help.

The Drinking Diary© and Focus Journal© have been used by patients of the Freedom From Alcohol® Method, to support and record their progress. These are simply ways in which a patient can keep track of their drinking, record thoughts and events related to treatment and create outcomes.

The Drinking Diary©

One of the tools used in the FFAM is The Drinking Diary©. This is a very practical guide and software program designed to assist you in identifying patterns and habits which may bring some conflict into your life and by recognizing them, you can confront the issues and resolve them. This proprietary software will assist you in detailing your progress and maintaining an online dialogue with me that will enable us both to monitor your improvement.

Your Drinking Diary© is a very important part of your treatment program. Your success will be greater if you utilize this daily "drinking diary", noting your thoughts and progress to include in our discussions.

Your success will be directly related to maintaining your Drinking Diary, on a daily basis. The reason your diary is such an important tool, is because it assists you and I in noticing and paying attention to what is going on in your life and giving me an opportunity to respond quickly.

  • How are your daily situations related to drinking and using the medications?
  • How have you been affected by them?
  • Have you experienced any side effects and, if so, what were they?
  • Have there been any situations in your day to day activities that have significantly   affected you with respect to your drinking?
  • Have you noticed any specific or interesting patterns relating to your drinking?

The Focus Journal®

The Focus Journal® has been designed to promote your active participation in the Freedom From Alcohol® Method and its partner piece, Attracting Well-Being©. By documenting your purpose, your goals and healthy vision for the future, the Focus Journal© will help you to:

  • Clarify your objectives
  • Allow you to sharply focus on your realization of how things would be if they were the way the way you really wanted them to be.
  • These may be considered "starter" questions or comments and important pieces of the whole picture, as you help design your own life.
  • As you address each question or issue in your life, your clarity and specificity about who you are and what you want, emerges.

The Focus Journal® helps you to guide your thinking, enrich your positive attitude and create your reality.

I know that some people are not comfortable writing about personal things, especially when they deal with the importance of how they want their lives to be; what they want or don't want. However, as we move through the program together, I can help you develop ways to feel more comfortable about making these entries, if you wish.

This isn't "homework"! The Drinking Diary© and Focus Journal© are optional tools to give you a personal, private, written resource, of your own important journey. Overall, my observation has been that those who consciously and deliberately write down what is working and what is not working; in other words, defining what outcome is desired, do much better with the program.
