Now that I’ve stopped drinking for a number of years and am recovering well from years of alcohol abuse, I can’t help having some regrets. Oh sure, it’s standard for those you trust enough to talk to about these things to say you should just move forward, get on with your life and enjoy what you have now. When it comes to alcohol addiction some people can save themselves and seek the treatment necessary to live a great life of recovery. Other people are able to control their drinking on their own and continue to function normally in their daily lives like problem drinking was never a question. These are the lucky ones. Andrew was an active youth and exercised hard until his mid twenties. He comfortably weighed a very fit 180 pounds for much of his adult life until he started his own business. Longer hours and stress filled days consumed him and he barely had time to sleep let alone exercise anymore. So when Andrew started drinking to quell the stressful days he also started on a road to poor health that was coming back to harass him now. Continue Reading »

Andrew was drinking without caution now since he lost his job. He really didn’t care who saw the booze delivery car pull into his driveway while his wife was working. All he cared about was having enough scotch to make it through the holiday weekend. There would be commitments and scheduled events that he would blow off in a cavalier fashion not caring that he was alienating his wife and family even further than they were now. Continue Reading »
